Traces: Cities

ABOUT

This collection comprises 34 photographs captured between 2012 and 2017; the subject matter is split evenly between natural vistas and cityscapes.

These images mostly feature almost-empty spaces, in which some trace has been left by an entity - human or otherwise. My intent is to encourage the viewer to think about the individual´s place in these images, to allow them to reflect on the meaning found in seemingly unremarkable moments, and as such to see abstractions beyond the photographs´ inherently documentary nature.

The recurrent motifs in these images include the use of negative space, black and white or otherwise limited color palettes, a focus on dissonant light sources, and spaces estranged from their function.
